Day 6 - thoughts from the ChurchApp team
Avoiding 'gift face' this Christmas
The big department stores seem to be going all out this Christmas – big budget productions. Often they tug on our heartstrings, but this one made me smile. This is luxury department store, Harvey Nichols (other good department stores can also be found!). “Avoid Gift Face” is the tagline for their campaign which shows the forced smiles we are often required to put on at Christmas when unwrapping that present that isn’t exactly our thing. Too polite to reveal our true feelings we instead resort to putting on a pretend smile – gift face. According to one statistic I read, 72% of adults admitted to having pulled a gift face and 63% will wear or use their gift just to protect a loved one’s feelings. Only 27% would actually confess their true feelings.
